Interventional Radiology Clinic

Interventional Radiology Clinic with the difference of TurkaHealth

Interventional radiology is the department that treats using radiological imaging methods, namely ultrasonography, angiography, tomography and rarely magnetic resonance imaging as a guide. Treatment procedures are not surgery. Most of the treatments performed were previously surgical procedures, and with interventional radiology treatments, these procedures can now be performed without surgery. Interventional radiology does not deal with a single organ or area like cardiology (only heart diseases) or eye diseases. There are treatments done in every part of the body.

Interventional radiology treatments include the treatment of all vascular diseases in the body, except for the heart vessels. These include treatment of vascular occlusions by opening (balloon, stent or vascular shaving), treatment of vascular aneurysms with angiography, removal of bleeding, treatment of liver tumors, diseases such as myoma, prostate enlargement with embolization.

Interventional Radiology provides temporary or permanent treatments for needle biopsy of every organ and tumor, abscess drainage, biliary tract and urinary tract obstructions. It treats cancer, especially in some of the liver, bone and lung cancers. It treats leg varicose vein anomalies (arterial or venous malformation). These treatments can be with or without angiography. The common point of interventional treatments is that each procedure is done through a small needle hole and no surgery is required. During the procedures, the pain is completely relieved and the patients do not feel pain; In most treatments, the patient can be sent home the same day. The materials used in their treatment are generally high-tech materials.

Features of Interventional Radiology treatment procedures:

Interventional radiology procedures are not surgery. All operations are done by entering through a small needle hole. Treatments are not performed in the operating room, but in the interventional radiology room or the angiography room. There are obvious advantages over the surgery.

  • - It does not require general anesthesia.
  • - All treatments are done through a fine pinhole
  • - No stab marks or scars on the body
  • - Patients are usually sent home the same day after treatment
  • - The risks of treatment are generally less than surgery
  • - Patients have a shorter time to return to their normal lives.
  •

In Interventional Radiology treatments, general anesthesia, that is, narcosis, may be required in major treatments such as brain aneurysm. Apart from this, many procedures are performed only with (local) anesthesia of the needle entry point. In some cases, intravenous sedation is performed before the procedure and relaxing and pain-relieving drugs are given. Sedation relieves patients who are excited, afraid or anxious even in simple procedures such as needle biopsy. After the treatments, the patients are usually kept under observation for 2-6 hours and then sent home. They usually return to normal life on the same day or one day later.
